Sandy got Salmonella food poisoning somewhere this week and this is what is causing all her stomach pain (we actually think we might know which restaurant and food it could have been). The case was severe enough that it caused an infection in her stomach/bowels, as best as I could understand from the doctor. He prescribed four different meds to take, including, for those of you in the know, are Ciproflox, Akabar, Flonorm, and Plidan Compuesto (I realize these are Spanish names so I'm not sure what they would mean in English). He said they were for the inflammation, the infection, her fever and for the pain (I'm not sure which one goes with which...).
The test came back negative for Typhoid Fever so we are thankful for that. However, unless the pills kick in very quickly, it will be another day of discomfort before she is out of the woods.
I am also making her drink a re-hydration serum, a type of Electrolyte of sorts...of course, she thinks it tastes disgusting, but the doctor supported my idea - I've got her where I want her now.
I sure hope that she comes out of this soon because she has been in a lot of pain for the last 2-3 days - long enough by all our estimates!
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers - we feel God's nearness through this event!
