Here we go again!

My heart is still beating fast.

Last night Gerald and I decided that our dog, Roxie, wasn't getting enough exercise and that was causing some problems. So after school this morning the kids and I went out for about 30 minutes. Right before supper we decided that we would go for just a short walk again. As I did this morning, I carried a rock or two just in case we encountered some difficult dogs. This morning the walk went great. Tonight, well, we encountered some problems.

We were already on our way home on a quieter street when I noticed a yard with several dogs all behind a nice high fence. I was keeping an eye on them when I saw one of the dogs push the gate open and head straight for us. Now I was scared. The dog came straight for Roxie, took one sniff and proceeded to try to bite Roxie - I let go of the leash and they took off. Olivia and Andrew started crying, I think I was yelling ( it all happened so fast I am not really sure what happened. )

The point of the story is this - God's care for us. We were on the only quiet street that I know of around here. If it had been any other street and I let go of the leash most likely Roxie would have run into the street and been hit. Secondly God sent an angel in the form a big kind Mexican man who was there before I even saw him coming. He stopped his pickup told the kids in English "Don't worry", picked up a big metal rod out of the back of his pickup and headed towards the dogs. By now the dogs were just starring at each other, he sent the other dog towards home and stood between us and the other dog until the owner came out and took the dog back into the fence and latched the gate. Then he turned to me and in perfect English told me it was ok to go on and asked me if the kids were ok.

We walked home. Before we even got into the house the kids were all trying to tell Gerald at once what had happened. I burst into tears and told Gerald I was not doing that again. If he doesn't come along then Roxie is staying home. I can't handle another episode - twice is more than enough for me.

But I am well aware of how the Lord took care of us this afternoon. Thank you Jesus!

I am going to go finish the supper dishes and get the kids showered and to bed at a decent hour tonight.

Sandy
